2000

Roots in Community Action

DSWS began grassroots work in the Sundarbans, focusing on education, child rights, and community development.

2009

Responding to Cyclone Aila

Following Cyclone Aila, DSWS led large-scale relief, rehabilitation, and livelihood recovery efforts.

2010

Formal Foundation

DSWS was formally structured to drive long-term development and resilience in vulnerable communities.

2012

Mangrove Restoration Begins

Community-led mangrove plantation launched to protect coastlines and restore biodiversity.

2015

Women at the Centre

Women-led Self-Help Groups became key drivers of livelihoods, restoration, and social change.

2018

Child Protection & Education Scale-Up

Expanded work on child protection, education access, and multi-activity learning centres.

2020

Crisis Response & Recovery

Rapid response to Cyclone Amphan and COVID-19 supported thousands with relief and cash assistance.
